Short-Run Metal Stampings
Providing Deep Drawn Stampings, Brass Metal Stampings, Fourslide Stamping, Copper Stamping and Stainless/Steel Stamping services.
Prototype & Short-Run Services, Inc. is an industry leader in short-run metal stampings. The process of short-run metal stampings involves the manufacture of small numbers of stamped metal parts. Quantities vary, but are generally less than 5,000 parts, and may even be as low as fewer than 50 parts. A job is considered a short-run metal stamping whenever the cost of the dies is greater than the
cost of the parts produced.
Short-run metal stampings involve a combination of machines that are able to produce stampings to meet stringent requirements. Prototype & Short-Run Services uses this method most often for experimental, prototypes, and pilot-lot production, especially when design changes are likely. Short-run metal stampings have shorter lead time, so they are idea for faster delivery of seasonal products. Short-run metal stampings are also useful for low-budget business, when it is not feasible to invest a large amount of money into permanent tooling.
Deep Drawn Metal Stampings
Deep drawn stamping is another metal stamping process that converts flat sheet metal into three-dimensional shapes. The Deep Drawn Stamping Process can be used for a variety of metals including Stainless/Steel Stampings, and Brass Metal Stampings. Prototype & Short-Run Services, Inc. can convert copper, aluminum, steel, nickel, and a variety of other metals into shapes such as cylinders, rectangles, and squares. A stamping press, consisting of a die and a punch, shape the deep drawn parts. A part is considered deep drawn whenever the length or depth of the shape exceeds one-half of the part's diameter. Prototype & Short-Run Services can create parts in different sizes and shapes, depending on a client's design.
Fourslide Stampings
Prototype
& Short-Run Services, Inc. also has the capabilities for
fourslide stamping. This process integrates stamping and forming
operations to create stamped parts from strips and wires.
Manufacturers at Prototype & Short-Run Services use stock
metal strips of steel, copper, aluminum, bronze, and others
to create small, intricate parts.
These parts may require bends greater than 90 degrees. To accomplish this, slide tools glide into the metal blank from four
directions at right angles to one another, bending the metal around a vertical mandrel. The slide forming area uses timed
mechanisms to regulate slide movement. This allows fourslides to produce complex parts with multiple bends. At Prototype
& Short Run Services, our fourslide stamping machines are precise and highly versatile, reducing production time while
maintaining quality.
